One more from the course
He's an action shot of Portia while she was running "on her own" - taken by the mom and friend with whom she ran most of the way.
All the runners
We'll excuse Graydon from smiling. He was hurting in more ways than one. (But he's already doing better. Lots of RICE, Mami love… and some screen time leniency go a long way. Let's try not to notice how sweaty Mami got from running just one mile…
Tanners who finished
Daddy was running ahead of Mami and Portia and didn't see Graydon on the edge of the course. So… when Mami had to stop, she encouraged Ms. P to just keep on trucking! She ran with some friends for a bit along the way and had to walk a bit at the end because of cramping. But we are so proud that Portia finished - and not at all at the back of the pack, either! She finished about four minutes behind Daddy. We'll see if we can find the times in a bit. (Daddy looks more tired than Portia, don't you think?)
Wa wa…
Four* Tanners got up waaaay too early this morning (and then went back to bed for an extra hour, 🙄) and then headed downtown for the Gazelle Foundation Run for the Water with a 7am start time. Graydon lined up with the faster runners and held a 6:36 min/mile pace for the first mile or so… and then a runner behind him dropped a water bottle, which rolled forward and tripped up Graydon, who rolled his ankle and had to stop running. Mami (who *cannot* hold a 6.5 minute pace!) caught up with him a few minutes later and flagged down the EMS golf cart. They gave us a ride to the finish. He got some ice and will be fine in a couple of days, but it sure was a bummer. More in the next post.
*Wiley begged off and stayed home. But he was still the first one up!
