Soccer and Trick of Treating!

Graydon played in a 3v3 tournament this weekend called the "Spookout." Kids played in costume-inspired uniforms (or just outright costumes) and there was a break in game play for kids to trick or treat in tents set up by parents. Graydon's team was named the "Lonescars" (their normal club name is "Lonestar"). A good time was had by all!

Boil Water Notice and DPR

Austin Water issued a "boil water notice" today since their water treatment plants can't keep up with the very silty and turbid water coming down the Colorado in the wake of last week's flooding. The somewhat delicious irony is that this makes the purified bottled water made through direct potable reuse the only thing officially safe to drink in the whole office! Go DPR!

He’s a Pear Farmer, too!

Graydon spotted a lonely but fully grown pear on the tree yesterday. Even though it was right near the top, he was determined to get it down. With the help of the step ladder and the extension pole from the pole saw (sans blade) he was able to jiggle the branches near it. With a little help from Mami, the pear was dislodged and tumbled to the ground unscathed. Mami and Portia enjoyed it for lunch. (Graydon didn't want any... he just wanted to harvest it!)

Early-morning good-byes

Today is the day Elisabeth heads back to Austria. Happy good-byes are so much better than sad good-byes! We loved having you Elisabeth and are looking forward to seeing you soon on Skype!

Graydon’s First Cyclocross Race

Graydon smoked the competition at his first ever cyclocross race - despite his conspicuous lack of spandex attire! He had a lot of fun, which is the important thing. Now we're off to his soccer game... and we even snuck in a photo of Claudia.

Goldilocks

We'll probably need to give Portia a hair cut pretty soon to address split ends so when I brushed out her hair the other night I couldn't help taking a photo. It is a pretty impressive head of hair!
