Grossmama has been going through the repository of photos from this summer and had this to say: "Just came across this picture - the kid's got guts!!! Proud GMM"

Post soccer practice exhaustion
The only thing is that these two didn't actually *have* a soccer practice - they were just along for the ride!

A Unique Dripping Springs Project
The "small tank" has kind of a weed problem - of the 12-15 ft variety. After about 3 hours of pretty hard labor (Graydon and Jessy were both troopers, braving a mucky shoe-eating bottom and gigantic pregnant spiders), we had cleared about half the reeds and shlepped them over the dam. Now it just needs to rain and we might actually have a place to splash and play!

Where in the world?
Fredericksburg, Texas, of course! En route to dropping off our our new boat(!!!), at the Altdorf restaurant, where we ate Schnitzel and Opa's sausage with Blaukraut. Mmmmm. This was the backdrop of the outdoor stage, that while empty during our visit, was clearly just the right size for an oompah band.

Musings on the Pop-Up Toy
It's funny how the differences between kids strike you at random moments. Here is Portia, playing with the classic pop-up toy. Each animal has its own "unlocking mechanism." What struck me with Portia is that she was able to figure out the "key" mechanism (green lid) very quickly. She has the hand strength and dexterity to turn that key and has figured it out but she still has trouble with the rocker switch (though she can usually get it, too). The boys got all the other ones before they were able to open the key.
