During the one day we spent on Gozo, we happened to hike by the Gozo heliport. This is where Erika, Ebo, and Eva landed about 20 years ago after our helicopter transfer from Malta. That, too, was a wonderful trip that I remember very fondly!
Another bus ride across the countryside and a beautiful hike across a ride spanning a couple of bays took us to a wonderful beach. Turns out other people thought so too... so we hiked all the way to the far side of the bay for a little more space and then spent the afternoon swimming and playing in the sand.
Day 1 consisted of a bus ride to and from Valetta, for a walking tour of the modern capital of Malta, a ferry ride, a tour of the Knights Hospitalis' original hospital, plus swimming, and - of course! - ice cream.
