Living dangerously

Having a picnic lunch with a Labrador nearby is living dangerously. But she seems pretty happy!

Boogie boarding was Mami's favorite part of the vacation.

More kite flying

Portia and Daddy enjoyed some gooey white things roasted over the camp fire.

Fishing was a bust

All week long, the fishermen (Graydon a d Daddy) caught only one fish (that they threw back). But this is still a nice photo.

Wiley flying the kite

Wiley had a grand ol' time flying the small stunt kite. He and Graydon had contests to see who could make it do the most "flips" and then "unflip" before crashing.

Yep, eight kids again. Same group as went to Big Bend last year!

The upside of meh weather

We had virtually no neighbors on the beach the first few days.

Were kind of gray and damp. Thankfully we had a warm and cozy trailer, a good supply of hot chocolate and fire wood, and a large supply of beach towels to rotate through. The quick load of laundry (and a mid-week shower!) at the condo where our friends were staying was nonetheless much appreciated.

Cozy trailer

Once repaired, the trailer was great. Wiley and Portia shared a cozy lower bunk.

An inauspicious beginning to spring break

For the second time in as many trailer rentals, we spent the first night after receiving it scrambling to buy parts and make repairs. This time one of two brakes on the trailers was completely missing brake pads. Thankfully we found a set available and Neal was up late making us roadworthy.

Wiley at soccer

Wiley is really loving soccer this season. The more structured practices and actual *positions* make this a much more tractable endeavor for him. He's the one in the yellow pinney - about to play goalie for the first half. Coach Andres is a wonderful, patient giant. He is super encouraging, checks in with players across the field, and makes sure everyone gets engaged in the game.
