Birthday “Play Date”

Graydon asked to take his best friend Ishaan on an afternoon outing to "Main Event" for an afternoon instead of having a birthday party. So that's what we did! They enjoyed laser tag, bowling in both real and virtual varieties as well as a bunch of other arcade games, and both came home with a bunch of junk prizes they "bought" with the tickets from the arcade games. Graydon had been looking forward to this and saving up quarters for forever. Turns out the entire arcade runs on "fun cards" and the machines don't even take quarters anymore! Good thing the restaurant was willing to exchange all those quarters for paper money that could be fed into the card re-charging stations.

Pink Pup

Kiwi has had two lingering "hot spots" on her front legs (where she ran into a metal cable at full speed in pursuit of a ball a few weeks ago). Today, we decided it was time to do something about it with some vet tape over gauze with neosporin. She looks a little like a race horse with her legs bandaged like that. I'm not sure she appreciates the color though.

Happy Birthday Graydon!

Our newly minted eight-year-old requested doughnuts instead of a cake. Who were we to disagree?

Mmmm, piggy

This is the first taste of the three pigs Daddy brought home this weekend. Yum!

Swinging at the lake

This was on Monday afternoon *before* the cold front hit. It almost made 20C!

Littlest Coder

This is Portia helping Daddy help Mami with some programming for work.

Cool... no, COLD biker!

It may not look cold, but it was -6C (21F) when we left the house for school this morning - at 9:15am! The school had a two-hour "weather delay" due to the cold.

But with the right clothes (long socks, fleece pants under his track pants, ski jacket, balaclava under the helmet, and gloves) it was no problem! Mami then biked to work from there. That sure raised some eyebrows... :)

It begins with kid #3...

So far, we've had two days without a single pee accident. No such luck with poop...

Super Senior!

Großmama qualified as a "super senior" (69+) and thus skied for free! She took advantage one morning and joined us on the slopes. Graydon and Wiley (and Mami!) sure enjoyed skiing with their (grand)mother! :)

Pockets

Portia has discovered pockets and has her hands in them pretty much all the time.

Budding Baker

Before the haircut, Graydon baked a delicious berry crumble from his new kids' recipe book (thanks Aunt Susan and Uncle John!). Never got a photo of the finished product as it was gone too fast!

Contemplating his new hair cut

We'll see how long the Mohawk lasts... good thing it can be fixed with a few more passes of the clippers.
