New UT digs

Graydon went to school today in his cool new UT windbreaker. Thanks Denise!

Uh-Oh!

Two largely unrelated tidbits here. One, Graydon has started saying "Uh-Oh". We're not sure if that really counts as his first word or not, but he definitely says it in response to things like falling down and dropping things. He will also pick himself up after falling down and wander off across the room chanting Uh-Oh repetitively with a big grin on his face...

Two, here is a bilboard from a gas station in near Port Lavaca, TX that we saw over Thanksgiving. (Yes, this means that we are just now getting around to sorting through pictures from over two months ago.)

We just thought this was too appropriate, especially in light of Teresa's comment to one of our postings last spring.

Ski trip with kiddos

We took a ski trip up to Lake Tahoe last weekend with some friends including (nearly) three kiddos. The parents took turns staying at the cabin with the munchkins and we all managed to get in some fun skiing. Eva made sure to get Graydon (1 yr + 3 days) and Geneva (2 yrs + 2 months) out sledding on the snow Sunday morning. However, I guess she forgot to take one of the sleds from the garage....

Kelly is expecting in a few weeks, so she was unable to join us on the slopes. Instead, she spent some quality time relaxing on the deck at the ski lodge (the weather was warm and beautiful) and playing with the kids. I hope she enjoyed her quiet relaxation time, because it will become rather scarce in a few weeks.

On Sunday afternoon, it was my shift with the kids. Eva and Kelly brought them to the ski hill to join everybody for lunch and then I got the task of taking them home and putting them down for naps. This was definitely one of the more interesting hikes I've made in ski boots.
P.S. Check out the fantastically long handles on the stroller!

California confuses trees

Why are we raking leaves in the middle of January? At least Graydon had some fun with the process.

Christmas in Canada (Part 1)

We spent Christmas in Canada (in and near Montreal) with both Eva's and Neal's family. Graydon got to try out all sorts of new winter gear that most California babies never encounter. In the end, we accidentally cooked him a few times but to the best of our knowledge he never got frost-bite. Here are a few photos from good times in the winter wonderland.

Playing with the new camera here and experimenting with very very shallow depth-of-field. (Note one eye in focus and the other not.)

All of these photos were taken out at Eva's parents' cabin north of Montreal. This is the same location as Graydon's swimsuit calendar photo shoot last summer, but he's wearing a bit more clothing this time around.

We enjoyed several very nice snowshoe trips and even drug Graydon along on some of them. When the going got too rough for the sled, we switched him into the backpack and kept on going.

This was more Graydon's style of sledding. He is definitely showing signs of becoming an adrenaline junkie.

Yup, Canada in the winter can be pretty fun....
