New friends from far away places

Graydon had a very international day today.

Nick stopped in from New Zealand on his way to a former Romanian roommate's wedding in Berkeley. We didn't have time to get in a windsurfing trip for old time's sake, but we did watch the US beat Algeria and Germany beat Ghanna in the World Cup.

Yui is a long time family friend from Bangkok. She was in the Bay Area with some exchange students from Thailand, so we met up with her and went out to eat some California BBQ.

Mobility?

He started out in the middle of the blanket. I was putting away clean
dishes in the kitchen, and the next thing I knew, Graydon was wedged
under the recliner (good thing it's soft and he didn't mind). Wonder
how he got over there??

Father's Day

Father and son participating in their favorite Father's Day pastime: sitting in the rocking chair on the front porch and watching Mami work. In this particular case she was mowing the lawn so safety glasses were of course in order.

It's a Tie!

We couldn't decide which photo made the best 5-month birthday portrait, so we have two official photos for this month...

When the baby is away, the parents will play.

We left Graydon at "parents' night out" at daycare tonight. Eva and I
went out to dinner and proceeded to play with "doodle buddy" on our
phones while we waited on our food. (Yes, we really are that nerdy.)
The masterpiece below was a joint creation.

Chariot Test Ride Successful

We took Graydon on a grand bike adventure today. ~19 km with stops at the bank, the farmers' market, the bike shop, and Target. Other than the fact that he was tired, hot, and hungry by the time we got home, he seemed to enjoy it. Beyond trying to make him look like an amputee, the tied off pants legs were an attempt to keep the sun off his feet.

First Sit

Graydon sat unassisted for a meaningful duration for the first time on Friday. He played with his giraffe and his rings before taking a nose dive to the left.

My chariot awaits.

Fully reassembled and ready for action. Now if only I could sit up on my own, I'd get to go for a ride.

"I won!" he says...

"Winning" = complete disassembly. Now, if only he can get it back
together before he forgets where everyhing goes...
