A terrible picture, but...

While taking a number of mug shots in an attempt to get something that would work for passport photos (we've got three passports to apply for, after all!), Eva managed to capture one of Graydon's first real smiles. Too bad the photo is so terrible, but we think the spirit is there.

One Month Old!

To celebrate Graydon's One-Month Birthday, we took lots of pictures (including those in the rocking chair from the previous posting). Here's one of the better portraits, the "official birthday photo" if you will.

We're also starting to make real progress on the head control, here are a few photos of Graydon the intrepid explorer working his way across Nana's quilt (he's not really locomoting just yet, but he sure would like to be!)

Hanging out on the front porch in the rocking chair...

The perils of being a small baby attempting to sit in a large chair are self-evident by this progression of pictures... :)

An engineer's perspective on babies

Just in case anyone had forgotten that we are both engineers, here is the plot that we have been so focused on over the last couple of weeks. 2/7/2010 was the day that Graydon figured out how to eat and he hasn't looked backed since.

On our own.

Neal's parents left on Tuesday morning, so we are now officially on our own. It has been a tremendous help to have them here for the last couple of weeks and they left us in pretty good shape. The house is clean, the freezer is full of easily-warmed meals, and we are relatively well rested. Thank you!

Dinner with Graydon

After several evenings of drama, we decided that is wasn't worth
risking waking Graydon up so Neal could come to the table and eat...
So Neal made do in the recliner. :)

Redundancy

Why use just the rocking chair or bouncy seat when you can use both?

Arctic expedition

Graydon the explorer prepares for his daring venture into the brutal
California winter.

Two weeks and still sleeping

Well, he hasn't actually been sleeping the entire time...
