Happy Birthday Wiley - Reprise

So now that Graydon is home and mostly back to normal, we had another birthday celebration for Wiley, along with Nana and Gramps. We had an Oreo Ice Cream Cake, which was delicious!

Graydon got to head home today before lunch. We're still on an acetaminophen / ibuprofen regimen, and the incision sites are still sore, but otherwise life is good. There is lots of walking and drinking on the schedule for him this afternoon.

Things are looking up

Graydon slept reasonably well last night (as did Mami!) and is feeling much better this morning. The leftover Rice Krispies treat for pre-breakfast certainly didn't hurt, either!!

Not-so-happy day for Graydon

Unfortunately, Graydon has not had as great a day. He was up all night in pain and our pediatrician sent us straight to the ER this morning. Sure enough, his appendix needed to come out. Here he is right before surgery after complaining that his head was "hot" so one of the nurses filled a glove with ice and gave it to him for his head. Surgery went well and he is settled into his room for the evening and enjoying popsicles. He'll hopefully be discharged in the morning.

Wiley has literally been counting down the days to today, his 5th birthday. He was excited to open some of his gifts from far away this morning!

Olympic Dreams

Portia fell asleep with her head in my hand while we were watching the olympics tonight.

“But Mami...

I'm not really *that* dirty," he exclaimed, protesting my instructions to go straight to the shower and undress there.

Passing of the Olaf

This morning I found Wiley wearing the Olaf pajamas that Nana and Tante Nise made for Graydon a few years ago. Curiously, he was not wearing them when he went to bed last night.
